Mariel is a graduate from Leiden University and the Erasmus University of Rotterdam. She has obtained Master’s degrees in (Public) International Law and Health Economics, Policy and Law. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and a Minor degree in Political Science.
This broad background enables Mariel to fully understand all aspects related to the life sciences industry. Her knowledge of medicine, statistics, health technology assessment and health policy development gives her a unique perspective on the specific challenges and needs of those active in the life sciences industry and the ability to translate these into a practical, effective, and comprehensive legal approach.
Her practice focuses on the medical devices and pharmaceutical industries, dealing with regulatory, compliance and contract matters, both contentiously and non-contentiously.
Mariel is a true global citizen who grew up in several very different countries around the world. She is strongly internationally oriented and has excellent cultural awareness.
In her free time Mariel enjoys traveling, climbing/bouldering, and reading.
